AAF-2025

AAF Conference In 2024, the Alink-Argerich Foundation organised the 3 rd international AAF Conference, this time in Cleveland (Ohio, USA), co-hosted by Piano Cleveland. Location of the conference was the beautiful Reinberger Chamber Hall at Severance Music Center. Although quite a trip to come to Cleveland, more than 80 competition organisers and others professionally involved in the Piano World had made arrangements to be at the conference. They came from various states within the USA, but also from middle and south America, Europe, Israel, South Africa, China and Singapore. At the conference, a wide range of topics were discussed in seven panel sessions covering many essential aspects of competitions such as the rules and procedures for the jury, financing a competition, the large variety in prizes and awards, support and facilities for the contestants as well as factors that may enhance or damage the reputation and image of a competition, while the impact of the current situation of the world was also addressed. The 1 st AAF Conference (Barcelona, 2018, in collaboration with the Maria Canals Competition) was attended by more than 150 competition organisers and other representatives from the Piano world. The 2 nd AAF Conference was organised in Utrecht (Netherlands) co-hosted by the Liszt Utrecht Competition (September 2022, after originally having been planned for March 2020, but postponed due to the covid pandemic) and drew more than 120 attendees.
