AAF Conference

The 4th AAF Conference will take place 25-26 June 2026 , in Porto (Portugal) , at the Casa de Musica, just before the finals of the Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition (with orchestra). The 1st AAF Conference (Barcelona, 2018, in collaboration with the Maria Canals Competition) was attended by more than 150 representatives of international piano competitions, pianists and other persons involved in the Piano World. The 2nd AAF Conference was organised in Utrecht (Netherlands) in collaboration with the Liszt Utrecht Competition (September 2022, after originally having been planned for March 2020, but postponed due to the covid pandemic) and drew more than 120 attendees, including the directors of many well-known piano competitions and several concert pianists. In August 2024, the 3rd AAF Conference was held in Cleveland (Ohio, USA). The 4th AAF Conference will again be very attractive for all organisers of international piano competitions and others professionally involved in the Piano World. The rules and procedures for the jury are again among the discussion topics as well as preselection procedures, the order of performances, promotion of prize winners and a reflection on the online competitions and how these might affect the “live” competitions. There will also be time to follow up on several other themes and statements from the previous AAF Conferences. This conference is a unique opportunity for meeting colleagues, exchanging ideas and opinions, making new contacts and further networking in the Piano World.
